Managing Contact Lists

Organizing your contacts into lists is essential for sending targeted campaigns. BuffSend provides tools to create and manage these lists effectively.

Creating a New List

  1. Navigate to the Contacts section from the main menu.
  2. Look for a "Create List", "New List", or similar button.
  3. Enter a clear and descriptive name for your new list (e.g., "Newsletter Subscribers", "Prospects - Q3", "Webinar Attendees").
  4. Save the new list. It will initially be empty.

You can often create a new list directly during the CSV import process as well.

Adding Contacts to a List

  • During Import: When uploading a CSV, you'll typically be prompted to select which list(s) the imported contacts should be added to.
  • Manually (Single Contact): There might be an option to add a single contact directly within the Contacts section, where you can assign them to one or more lists.
  • Manually (Bulk Actions): From your main contact view, you might be able to select multiple contacts (using checkboxes) and then use a bulk action menu to "Add to List".

Viewing Contacts in a List

  • In the Contacts section, you should be able to see a list of all your contact lists.
  • Clicking on a specific list name will usually filter the view to show only the contacts belonging to that list.

Removing Contacts from a List

  • Navigate to the specific list you want to edit.
  • Select the contact(s) you wish to remove using checkboxes.
  • Look for a "Remove from List" or similar action in a bulk actions menu.
  • Confirm the removal. Note: This usually only removes the contact from the *specific list*, not from your entire BuffSend account (unless it's the only list they belong to and you choose a delete option).

Renaming a List

  • Go to the main view of your contact lists in the Contacts section.
  • Find the list you want to rename.
  • Look for an "Edit", "Rename", or settings icon next to the list name.
  • Enter the new name and save the changes.

Deleting a List

  • Go to the main view of your contact lists.
  • Find the list you want to delete.
  • Look for a "Delete" or trash can icon next to the list name.
  • Important: Be very careful when deleting lists. The system might ask if you want to:
    • Delete the list only: Contacts remain in your account but are no longer associated with this specific list.
    • Delete the list AND the contacts within it: This permanently removes the contacts from your BuffSend account (unless they also exist on other lists). Understand the implications before confirming!
  • Confirm the deletion.

Effective list management helps you maintain organized contacts, improve campaign targeting, and ensure compliance by managing unsubscribes or segmenting audiences appropriately.
