Connecting Gmail/Google Workspace
Connecting your Gmail or Google Workspace account is the easiest and most recommended way to add a sender to BuffSend. We use Google's secure OAuth 2.0 protocol, meaning you never need to share your password with us.
Steps to Connect via OAuth:
- Navigate to the Senders section from the main navigation menu.
- Click the "Add Sender" or "Connect New Sender" button.
- Select the "Gmail / Google Workspace" option.
- You will be redirected to a Google sign-in page. If you are logged into multiple Google accounts, make sure to select the specific account you want to use for sending emails.
- Google will ask you to grant BuffSend permission to perform certain actions, primarily:
- Send email on your behalf: This is essential for BuffSend to send your campaigns.
- (Potentially) Read, compose, send, and permanently delete all your email from Gmail: Some scopes might request broader access to manage drafts, check for replies, or handle bounces more effectively. Review the requested permissions carefully. BuffSend only uses these permissions as necessary to operate the sending service.
- (Potentially) View your basic profile info: Used to identify your account.
- Review the permissions and click "Allow" or "Grant" to proceed. BuffSend does not store your Google password.
- You will be redirected back to BuffSend.
- The system will verify the connection. If successful, your Gmail/Workspace account will appear in your Senders list, ready to be used in campaigns.
Important Considerations:
- Google Sending Limits: Be aware that Gmail and Google Workspace have their own daily sending limits (typically around 500 for free Gmail accounts and 2000 for paid Workspace accounts, though this can vary). BuffSend respects these limits, but sending very high volumes might require using a dedicated SMTP service or multiple sender accounts.
- Security: Using OAuth is highly secure. You can revoke BuffSend's access at any time directly from your Google Account permissions page.
- Verification: Ensure your domain has proper SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records set up, even when using Google Workspace, for optimal deliverability.
Troubleshooting:
- If the connection fails, ensure you selected the correct Google account and granted all necessary permissions.
- Check if any security settings or policies within your Google Workspace organization might be blocking third-party app connections. Consult your Workspace administrator if needed.
