Connecting Your First Sender

To send emails through BuffSend, you first need to connect at least one email account (a "sender"). This is the email address your campaigns will be sent from. BuffSend supports connecting Gmail, Google Workspace, Outlook, Microsoft 365, and any standard SMTP server.

Steps to Connect a Sender:

  1. Navigate to the Senders section from the main navigation menu.
  2. Click the "Add Sender" or "Connect New Sender" button.
  3. Choose the type of account you want to connect (e.g., Gmail/Workspace, Outlook/365, Custom SMTP).
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions specific to the chosen type:
    • Gmail/Google Workspace: You'll likely be redirected to Google to securely log in and grant BuffSend permission to send emails on your behalf (using OAuth). This is the recommended and most secure method.
    • Outlook/Microsoft 365: Similar to Gmail, you'll likely use OAuth to grant permissions securely. Some older or specifically configured accounts might require an "App Password" generated from your Microsoft account settings.
    • Custom SMTP: You will need to provide the following details from your email provider (e.g., SendGrid, Mailgun, AWS SES, or your own server):
      • SMTP Server Address (e.g., smtp.sendgrid.net)
      • SMTP Port (e.g., 587 for TLS, 465 for SSL, 25 for unencrypted)
      • SMTP Username (often your email address or a specific API key)
      • SMTP Password (your email password, an App Password, or an API key)
      • Encryption Method (TLS, SSL, or None)

Consult your email provider's documentation if you are unsure about these details.

  5. Once the details are entered or permissions are granted, BuffSend will attempt to verify the connection.
  6. If successful, your sender will appear in the list with a "Verified" status.

Verification and Warm-up

  • A successful connection means BuffSend can technically send emails, but it doesn't guarantee deliverability.
  • Important: Ensure your sending domain has proper SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records set up.
  • If you are using a new sender or domain, consider warming it up gradually to build a positive sender reputation. (Link to warm-up guide if available).
